In PokemonGo you can find Pokestops in several locations but what if you can’t find one near your area? This step-by-step guide will clarify on how exactly you can nominate a PokeStop in PokemonGo! These will be located at designated places such as historical markers, monuments, and art installations. PokeStops are indicated on the map with blue icons. After collecting the items, the icon’s colour will change to purple meaning you have to wait around 5 minutes before being able to collect items again.
So how can you get a PokeStop in your area?
First you need to keep in mind that not every PokeStop nomination will be accepted. Which can be frustrating if you’re one of the unlucky ones. However, it can’t hurt to try! You should provide the developer with all the significant details on the suggested PokeStop location, so you have the best chance of approval. The account requesting the PokeStop needs to be at least level 37 and from an adult.
Now that we got that out of the way you can follow the steps below to get your PokeStop!
- Step 1 – Go to the location you wish to nominate.
- Step 2 – Open PokemonGo and tap ‘Main Menu’ button.
- Step 3 – Press ‘settings’ and then ‘New Pokestop’.
- Step 4 – Place orange pin in the selected location and press confirm.
- Step 5 – Take photo of the landmark you wish to nominate.
- Step 6 – Take additional photos of surrounding location.
- Step 7 – Add a title. It should be the official name of the landmark.
- Step 8 – Enter a description. This is the origin, history, or background of this place.
- Step 9 – Preview your nomination and ‘confirm’.
- Step 10 – Show why your nomination is important. Write reviewers some more context as to why your nomination should be considered eligible.
- Step 11 – Press ‘Submit’.
Additional information you should know
There are several reasons why your nomination could be rejected. We will tell you a few of them to make sure you don’t make these mistakes giving you the best chance of approval. If the location, you chose is too close to an existing PokeStop or you give an inaccurate location your submission will be ineligible. If the picture you submit of said location is low quality, blurry, dark, or taken from a car the nomination will be ineligible. Do not submit photos you didn’t take yourself and they can’t contain people, body parts, animals, or copyrighted objects/materials. When writing the title or descriptions do not include HTML or URLs, as well as references to usernames, nicknames, or game specific terms.
What should you expect after nominating?
After completing your submission, you should receive a confirmation email and it will be passed on to the community for assessment. The time you’ll wait until you hear back depends on the level of review required and the number of nominations they receive. The time frame can very from just a few weeks to several months. Ultimately you will receive an email informing you of their decision. If your location got accepted, then you can expect to see the new PokeStop implemented within a matter of weeks. On the other hand, if you location has been rejected, make sure you didn’t make any mistake like the ones mentioned above and you can always try again!
