In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet there are four new legendary Pokémon hidden behind shrines that you can capture. Chi-Yu is the most distinctive looking of the four having the looks of the typical household goldfish! However this doesn’t make him the least impressive he’s one of the strongest one’s you can add to your team. This how to catch Chi-Yu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet guide will explain all the steps you need to take to unlock the shrine and later capture him.
Where can you find Chi-Yu?
You can find Chi-Yu’s shrine in the northeast part of the map Area Two. It will be inside a cave above a waterfall by the Fury Falls landmark.
If you attend all the history classes at the Academy and speak with Ms. Raifort afterwards she will mark the Firescourge Shrine along with all the shrines’ locations on your overworld map. In case you haven’t done this you can see the location on the map below.
The shrine will be locked. To unlock it you will have to collect all eight blue stakes from the surrounding area. Keep reading on how to do this.
Blue Ominous Stakes Locations
In the map below you can see all the eight Blue Ominous Stakes locations you will need to find in order to unlock the shrine to find Chien-Pao. All you must do is go to these locations and pull the stakes. Once you do all this you will hear a mysterious cry coming from the shrine
How to catch Chi-Yu
Like the other legendary Pokémon Chi-Yu will be level 60 when you find him. He’s a Dark/Fire – type meaning he will be immune to all Psychic attacks and incredibly vulnerable to Fighting, Ground and Rock types. We would avoid bring any of these types of Pokémon to the fight. Instead bring a water type Pokémon. This will give you the best chance of succeeding. Keep in mind Chi-Yu has a special ability called Beads of Ruin that will lower your team’s defence stats. Bring some Dusky Balls this will come in handy since the fight will take place in a cave.
Every time you attempt to capture a Pokémon always remove autosave and manually save your game beforehand to insure in case you end up failing you can always relaunch the game.
