Where can you find Chien-Pao
You can find Chien-Pao on the West Province also known as Area One. This is located on the west side of Paldea. If you attend all the history classes at the Academy and speak with Ms. Raifort when afterwards she will mark all the shrines’ locations on your overworld map. In case you haven’t done this you can see the location on the map below. Keep in mind that due to the location of the shrine you will need to be able to climb or glide with your Ride Pokémon to get to this location.

In the map below you can see all the eight Yellow Ominmous Stakes locations you need to unlock the shrine to find Chien-Pao. All you have to do is go to these locations and pull the stakes. Once you do it you will hear a mysterious cry coming from the shrine.
How can you catch Chien-Pao?
You need to be careful not to knock out the Pokémon since if you do you won’t be able to catch it ever again. Unless you disable auto save and reload the game and try again.
Chien-Pao is a Dark/Ice type Pokémon, and he should be around level 60. Avoid using any powerful Fire or Rock-type Pokémon since you might unintentionally knock him out. We would also suggest avoiding bringing any Dragon-type Pokémon. Instead, we would recommend bringing a Pokémon with resistance to Ice and Dark type Pokémon and ultra-balls. This will give you the best chance at succeeding.
