EXP candy is one of the best ways to level up your Pokémon without having to grind through battles.
What are EXP Candies?
Like we mentioned earlier EXP candies are essential to level up your Pokémon. You might have heard of rare candy but unlike rare candy it doesn’t increase a Pokémon’s entire level up. Instead, EXP candy gives a specific amount of experience. There are five different types of EXP candies. The XS gives the selected Pokémon 100XP, the S 800XP, the M 3000XP, the L 10000XP and finally the XL which gives a whopping 30000XP to one lucky Pokémon.
We would recommend using EXP candy on a low-level Pokémon. It will be rather significant and help increase its level exponentially. However, when you use it on a high-level Pokémon it won’t make much of a difference and honestly, it’s a waste. There are way better items for these situations like the rare candy which will automatically get it to the next level. So, before you start using EXP candies on all your Pokémon decide first if it’s worth it.
So where can you find them?
There are three different ways to get EXP candies in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Thought we should warn you both ways imply a lot of grinding and time on your part which isn’t ideal. However, we promise you it’s worth it if you wish to level up your Pokémon and thrive in battles. Without further ado let’s get into it.
The first way is done by exploring the Paldea region. You can get EXP Candy from Pokeballs that spawn in the overworld. Unfortunately, this method is all about RNG and luck. As you walk around, you’ll find Pokeballs scattered everywhere. You will notice them by observing a faint glow they emit, and they may or may not contain EXP Candy inside. Like we said it’s all about luck in this method…
The second way is simpler. All you must do is participate in Tera Raid Battles. You can get considerable amounts of EXP Candy this way. We would say this is the best way as every time you complete a Tera Raid Battle you will get a ton of prizes and EXP candy will always be one of these items. It’s important to mention that the higher the ranked Raid Battle the more XP Candy you get.
The third and final way is a one-time thing. Upon completing the Midterm and Final exams on each class at Uva Academy you will receive five EXP candy S and five EXP candy M.
