First let’s be practical and talk about what your odds are of actually finding a shiny Pokémon. According to online sources the actual chances of you finding one are 1/4096. Ye… That’s not much… Well on the other hand you can improve these odds by several different methods. One of them being by clearing Pokémon out of outbreaks. In case you don’t know an outbreak is when there’s a large number of the same Pokémon species, these will appear on the map at random, there’s also mass outbreaks in Paldea. By clearing 30 to 60 Pokémon, you will increase the odds to 1/2048 while clearing more than 60 brings the rate to 1/1365.
You can even improve your odds even further by combining different methods like using a shiny charm or eating a shiny boost sandwich. All these methods together can increase your chance to 1/512.44 that’s a significant improvement from the original number.
Where can you find a shiny charm?
To get the shiny charm you will need to complete your Paldea Pokédex. It’s a lot of work but a necessity if you’re on the prowler for a shiny Pokémon. After completing it go visit Mr. Jacq at the academy and he should give you the shiny charm.
How can you make a shiny sandwich?
Sandwiches are available from the start of the game but to make a shiny one you will need Herba Mystica. Herba Mystica is hard to find but mixing it with different ingredients will increase shiny rates for Pokémon types substantially.
What’s the Masuda Method?
You can breed shiny Pokémon using the Masuda Method. You can obtain eggs by the Pokémon Picnic when putting compatible species together and hope an egg spawns in your basket. You can influence these eggs by making distinct kinds of sandwiches that boost breeding and shiny rates. The Masuda Method requires you to use Pokémon from different country versions or languages. The eggs produced through this method have a higher chance of being shinny bringing your odds to 1/683.
