Requirements to Get the Chainsaw
To get your hands on the mighty chainsaw in Sons of the Forest, players must first gather a few essential items. These include the rebreather, rope gun, shovel, maintenance keycard, and guest keycard. However, obtaining these items is no easy task. The rebreather and rope gun are necessary to locate the shovel, which is required to obtain the maintenance keycard. All three items can be found in different caves on the island’s west side, but beware – mutant cannibals are lurking in each cave, making exploration a risky endeavor.
The rebreather cave is the smallest of the three and can be accessed quickly from the beach, luckily for you we have a guide on it! However, the rope gun and shovel caves are much larger and require a more heavy-duty weapon, such as a pistol, to navigate safely. With these items in hand, players can finally unlock the chainsaw and enjoy a faster, more efficient gameplay experience. Just remember to stay alert for any potential dangers along the way.
How to Get the Maintenance Keycard
To find the elusive Maintenance keycard in Sons of the Forest, players must first acquire the shovel. Once they have the shovel, they can use their GPS and follow the symbols to locate the keycard. A pulsating green circle located to the northwest, just north of one of the purple GPS markers on the map, will lead players to a dig site where the keycard is hidden.
Upon arriving at the dig site, players will notice two broken-down golf carts and zoning equipment. They will need to use the shovel to dig away a mound of loose dirt to uncover the keycard. However, players should be cautious of any cannibals that may attack while they are digging. Once enough dirt has been removed, a small hatch will appear, leading to an underground maintenance bunker.
Inside the bunker, players should proceed down the hallway and enter the door on the right. Here, they will find an apartment with the keycard sitting on a desk next to a 3D printer. With the Maintenance keycard finally in their possession, players can unlock the chainsaw and enjoy the many benefits of this powerful tool.
How to Get the Chainsaw
Here are the steps to find the Guest keycard and chainsaw in the underground Recreational Center:
- Grab a shotgun for protection before going to the Recreational Center entrance.
- Find the entrance by going to the green circle located south of the maintenance digsite and east of the western beach. Look for a broken-down golf cart near a river a few feet away from an unmarked cave entrance.
- Follow the tunnel until you reach a room with a cot, supplies, and a 3D Printer. Use the supplies in the room to rest and grab meal packets if needed.
- To the left of the main corridor is another hall leading to a wall gap with a bright light shining through. Squeeze through the gap to another hall.
- Use the Maintenance keycard to unlock the doors in the next room.
- Go past the reception desk and head towards the two large half-spiral staircases at the back of the room. Be careful of mutants in the area.
- Go up the stairs and through the pool bar area to reach the private clubroom on the second floor. Look for the deceased man with a guitar shoved down his throat in the middle of the room to know you’re in the right place.
- Go to the back of the clubroom to the booths, and on the back right table with the five corpses, you’ll find the Guest keycard.
- Pick up the Guest keycard and go back to the pool bar. Look to the left for another set of security doors and unlock them with the Guest keycard.
- Continue down the brightly lit hallway to a small lounge area that leads to a cinema room with yellow beanbag chairs.
- Find the chainsaw skewered inside a dead body in one of the front left chairs.
- To leave the Recreational Center, go back to the lounge area outside the cinema room and look for a door on the left before the brightly lit hallway. It leads to a corridor with several mutant babies and into an exit cave.
