How to Get the Everburn Blade
Step 1: Understand the Opportunity
- You have 15 turns to reach the Nautiloid controls and escape the ship, but you can also defeat Zhalk within this time frame.
- Zhalk will always focus on the Mind Flayer as long as it’s alive, making it possible to attack him without fear of instant defeat.
Step 2: Buff the Mind Flayer
- At the beginning of the fight, have Shadowheart cast Armor of Faith on the Flayer to boost his defense against Zhalk.
- The Mind Flayer will be your primary source of damage and tank against Zhalk.
- Remember that the Mind Flayer will turn hostile once Zhalk is defeated, so be prepared to escape immediately.
Step 3: Clear Out Lesser Enemies
- Use ranged weapons and the Intellect Devourer (if saved) to eliminate imps and lesser Hellboar as you approach Zhalk.
- You can also cast Inflict Wounds on Zhalk for additional damage.
- Position Shadowheart close to the Nautiloid controls for a quick escape once Zhalk is defeated.
Step 4: Deal with New Threats
- Two more imps and a Hellboar will spawn when any of your characters move past Zhalk. Eliminate them with ranged attacks and your Intellect Devourer.
- The real challenge comes when two Cambions spawn in the entrance hallway with about 10 turns remaining. They can reach Zhalk and the Mind Flayer in about 7 turns and can kill weaker characters.
Step 5: KOed Characters and Victory
- If any party member gets knocked out, don’t worry. They will be revived if at least one character reaches the Nautiloid’s controls.
- After defeating Zhalk, don’t forget to loot the Everburn Blade from his remains.
