How to Prepare for the Soar Trophy
Step 1: Set Up Your Starting Point
- Fast travel to the Financial District. This will be your starting location for the Soar Trophy attempt.
- Open your map and set a marker in Astoria, Queens, to ensure you stay on the right path and avoid getting lost during your flight. A good marker location is just over the bridge to the right of the river.
- Consider attempting this trophy during the daytime for better visibility. Bright lighting will make it easier to navigate and avoid obstacles, allowing you to spot helpful updrafts.
Step 2: Acquire Essential Skills
- Head to the Suit Tech tree in the game menu.
- Acquire the “Spectacular Wings” ability in the Traversal submenu. This ability improves your soaring distance and enhances the handling of the Web Wings.
- “Spectacular Wings” will help you maintain control as you perform tight maneuvers during your flight, which is crucial for successfully completing the challenge.
Optional Skill:
- While not necessary for the Financial District to Astoria flight, you can also consider obtaining the “Ultimate Wings” ability, also found in the Traversal tree.
- “Ultimate Wings” improves your diving ability when using the Web Wings, although it’s not a requirement for this specific trophy.
By following these steps and acquiring the recommended skills, you’ll be well-prepared to take on the challenge of the Soar Trophy in Spider-Man 2.
How to Get the Soar Trophy
Step 1: Note on Route Options
- Keep in mind that there is no single “best” route for completing the flight between the Financial District and Astoria. Multiple Wind Tunnels are scattered across the map, offering various routes to the trophy. In this guide, we will focus on one route that proved successful.
Step 2: Begin Your Journey
- Start by heading to the Wind Tunnel located in the northeast area of the Financial District. You can do this by fast traveling to a location near the tunnel.
- When fast traveling, Spider-Man will activate his Web Wings as soon as you gain control, especially if you fast travel near the tunnel. Alternatively, you can gain some momentum and jump from an adjacent tall building to access the tunnel’s airflow.
Step 3: Navigate the Wind Tunnel
- Once inside the Wind Tunnel, follow its airflow until it runs out.
- After exiting the wind tunnel, immediately tilt your direction to the right, away from the dome, and look ahead toward a small building with an updraft vent. These vents are marked by vertical white streams of air.
- Boost off the updraft vent and pull back on the left stick to gain altitude. Weave between the orange apartment complex buildings to conserve your momentum.
Step 4: Spot Additional Updrafts
- As you navigate Midtown, keep an eye out for another updraft. This should elevate you enough to reach the river.
Step 5: Crossing the River
- When approaching the river, you’ll see larger, faster wind tunnels overlaid on the water. You can highlight them with R3 if needed for better visibility.
- Look for a tunnel running straight across the river, as well as an intersecting tunnel above it, heading west toward your Astoria marker.
Step 6: Transition Between Tunnels
- Enter the first tunnel and then veer up into the adjoining tunnel that leads west toward Astoria.
- Follow this tunnel all the way, and be sure to pull up to avoid colliding with the bridge at the end.
- Continue flying until you reach your Astoria marker.
Step 7: Claim the Trophy
- Once you arrive in Astoria, the Soar Trophy will be yours, and it will pop up as an achievement or trophy, marking your success.
By following these steps and the suggested route, you’ll be well on your way to achieving the Soar Trophy in Spider-Man 2.
