How to Hire a Specialist

- Locate a Specialist character: Specialist Characters are specific NPCs that are scattered around the Fortnite map. To find them, pull up the quest itself, and you’ll see a map that shows all the Specialist Characters. It’s important to note that not all NPCs fall into this category, so make sure to check the map for the Specialist Characters.
- Choose a Specialist character: Once you have located the Specialist Characters, select one that suits your needs. We recommend selecting the one to the north of Breakwater Bay, as it’s usually less busy and out of the way.
- Hire the Specialist character: Once you have selected a Specialist character, you’ll need to pay 200 Gold Bars to hire them. If you don’t have the funds, make sure to play more and complete bounties as needed.
How to Give a Specialist a Command
Once you have hired a Specialist Character in Fortnite, they will be on your side for the duration of the match. To issue a command to your hired NPC, you will need to use the Follower Communications wheel, which is located on the top left side of the screen. To access this menu, you need to press and hold left on the D-pad if you’re playing on console, or the middle mouse button if you’re playing on PC.
Once you have opened the Follower Communications wheel, you can choose from a list of commands to give to your Specialist Character. Select the command you wish to issue, and the NPC will follow your orders.
To complete the quest, you only need to issue one command to the hired Specialist Character. After the NPC has completed your command, you will receive credit for completing the quest.
