The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me more commonly known as just The Devil in Me was released at the beginning of this month. The game is about a group of documentary film makers that receive a mysterious call inviting them to a modern-day replica of HH Holmes’ ‘Murder Hotel’. But on arrival the crew soon discover they’re being watched and even manipulated, and suddenly there’s much more at stake than just their ratings! There’s five main characters that can all potentially die. If you want to know how to keep all of them alive by the end of the game this how to save everyone guide will surely help you!
This guide will be divided by chapters. We will tell you what you must do to guarantee all characters come out of the hotel alive. The choices we don’t mention in here aren’t relevant for this ending so choose whatever you’d like.
The Blackout Chapter – Erin
In this chapter there’s going to be a scene where Erin is having an asthma attack and will be approached by a mysterious man holding her inhaler. Here you must choose to take the inhaler and not attack the man. By choosing this option the man will leave and give you the chance to safely use the inhaler. This is a very important choice if you pick the wrong one you will end Erin’s chapter in the story.
The Silver Ash Chaper – Erin
In this chapter Erin is in danger again she will be exploring the Silver Ash Institute when Jamie suddenly tells her to hide as the killer is coming for her. Is this scene you must choose to hide and not run. If you run Erin will die but if you hide the killer won’t find her.
The Ignition Chapter – Charlie
It’s Charlies turn to be in danger! In this chapter Charlie will fall in his futile attempt on finding cigarettes. He will find himself locked in what turns out to be an incinerator. A fire will start, and you will be prompted to make a decision. Choose to open the grate this may not seem to work at first but after a few tries he will successfully move the heavy grate and avoids dying in the fire.
The Water Disposal Chapter – Charlie
There’s going to be a scene where you can’t fail a QTE over an industrial shredder. Charlie will need to hold his breath. So, make sure not to fail this.
The Breathless Chapter – Erin and Kate
In this chapter Erin and Kate are going to find themselves locked in two separate chambers and Jamie must choose which one gets to live. You have to pick to save Erin. Kate’s pod is damaged so she can escape through the window. And this way both can live.
The Reflection Chapter – Jamie and Kate
You will have the option whether to give the screwdriver to Jamie or Kate. We would recommend giving it to Jamie due to it affecting a later chapter.
The Director’s Suite Chapter – Jamie
In this chapter Jamie has the power to either kill Kate or let the wall crush her. And this is where the screwdriver comes in play. The wall is directed toward whoever has the screwdriver. If you gave the screwdriver to Jamie, she could decide to save Kate and direct the wall towards her and use the screwdriver to saver herself.
The Chase Chapter – Jamie and Erin
When Du’Met lunges for Jamie choose to save her instead of fleeing. This will allow both characters to survive. Eventually you’ll arrive at a barn, choose to keep running and do not barricade the door.
The Homestead Chapter – Connie
There is one character we haven’t mentioned yet. Connie the dog! There’s going to be a scene where you will be hiding in a shack from Du’Met with a dog who won’t stop growling at him. You’ll be prompted with a decision where you must choose to whether kill Connie with a broken bottle to not give away your location or let her live and risk giving away your position. Du’Met will find you regardless so keep Connie alive.
The Lighthouse Chapter – Charlie
In this chapter Charlie will be under suspicion of colluding with Du’Met. Make sure to reassure Erin to not cost this paranoia Charlie’s life.
The Lake Chapter – Everyone
In this chapter you will finally make it to the boathouse. You will be prompted to choose the authoritative response to try and grab the gun make sure to do this as it will determine Erin’s fate.
When everyone is escaping on the boat Charlie will be attacked you must pass a quick QTE to ensure his survival. At some point Charlie will jump off the boat and Jamie will have the choice to fight Du’Met or jump to safety. Choose for Jamie to jump off the boat. And finally, Mark will have to pass a series of QTEs to survive along with Kate.
