God of War: Ragnarök is arguably a very complex game. You have weapon attachments, armour pieces and a whole lot of different things. In this how to unlock amulet slots guide we are going to be talking about a whole different system, the Enchantment system. Enchantments are mid-game upgrades that Kratos can equip that provide small buffs and gives you the possibility to further customize his playstyle. This How to Unlock Amulet Slots in God of War: Ragnarok is just the guide you need!
So how do you unlock these slots?
During the Vanaheim story sequence, after defeating the dragon-like boss you will unlock the ability to equip Enchantments. You can equip them through the ‘Armour Menu’ by selecting the amulet. You will quickly notice you can only slot two Enchantments, seven out of the nine slots are broken and need repair. In order to repair the slots, you will need to find 7 items called Jewel of Yggdrasil.
The rare jewels of Yggdrasil can be found in Treasure Map locations, dropped by difficult bosses, or simply in Legenday Chests. If you’re not specifically looking for the jewels, there’s a good chance you will miss them.
Where can you find the Jewels of Yggdrasil
As you know there’s seven jewels you need to collect which means there’s seven locations you need to go to. Below we will get into depth on where and how to find every Jewel of Yggdrasil.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 1 – The Word of Fate – You can find this jewel upon defeating the Frost Phantom during the story mission “The Word of Fate” in Midgard. It’s a main story path so just make sure you collect the jewel.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 2 – Forging Destiny – You can find this jewel upon defeating one of the two Ogre’s that you will encounter during the story mission “Forging Destiny” in Svartalheim. It’s a main story path so just make sure you collect the jewel.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 3 – The Forgotten Sands – You can find the 3rd Jewel inside a Legendary chest in The Forgotten Sands sub-area in Alfheim, after completing the story mission “The Reckoning”. Travel to the old Elven Sanctum structure on the east side of the map go to the upper level and you will see the chest.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 4 – Noatunn’s Garden, Vanaheim – You can find the Jewel in Noatunn’s Garden in Vanaheim. Go to the Delta River Mysterious Gate and follow the river east. Then go to the small ruin northeast of the area where you docked. You should be able to see red vines burn them with Sigil Arrows, then break the seal to open the gate. Go inside, and there’s a Legendary chest with the jewel.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 5 – The Oarsmen, Midgard – You can find this Jewel inside a Legendary Chest in The Oarsmen. Travel to the Shores of Nine in the northeast of Midgard’s Lake of Nine, travel right from the fallen piece of Tyr Statue. You will eventually need to pull a giant chain then dive back into the tomb. The chest will be to the right of the stairs.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 6 – Alberich Hollow, Svartalfheim – You can find this Jewel inside a Legendary chest in Alberich Hollow after completing “The Lost Treasure” favor which can be started on Dragon beach by speaking to the Wayfarer Spirit. You will be able to access the chest after defeating Ormstrunga. Be aware you will need the Draupnir Spear to reach the area of the quest.
Jewel of Yggdrasil 7 – The Jungle, Vanaheim – You can find this Jewel in the Crater hidden region after completing the favor “Scent of Survival”. Travel to the jungle and head west from the Mystic Gateway you will eventually drop into a dragon pit, then accept the favor “Path of Destruction”, complete the chain puzzle and you will find the chest with the jewel.
How do you upgrade your Amulet?
To upgrade your Amulet, you must travel to any Blacksmith location. Select ‘Amulet’ in your Armor tab. Then select the level you wish to upgrade; you will need Jewels to do this. Keep in mind one slot costs 1 Jewel of Yggdrasil.
