There are many hidden regions in God of War: Ragnarök with the Wishing Well being in one of them. In order to access this region location in The Crater, you will have to unlock it and you will be rewarded with items, rare upgrade materials, and equipment that are surely worth your time. Unlocking the Wishing Well is a time-consuming process as you will have to complete a favour before starting the actual mission. The favour requires you to reactivate the water wheels to The Crater in Vanaheim.
Requirements to Reach The Crater
There are two requirements to unlock the Wishing Well the first one being completing the main quest “Creatures of Prophecy” and the second one beginning the side-quest “Scent of Survival”. After completing these you will be on the path to The Crater and will have to follow Helka’s footprints. These will lead you to an area where you must use your new Skidbladner boat in order to get to The Crater. Your primary objection when reaching this location is to find and rescue Birgir. Though you are allowed to roam freely and explore it or simply go straight to The Wishing Well location.
Where can you find The Wishing Well?
If you wish to go straight to the Wishing Well location, make sure to follow the steps bellow accordingly.
- Step 1 – Head to the western side of The Crater from the initial Mystic Gateway.
- Step 2 – Once you get there use the Celestial Altar turning day to night.
- Step 3 – Follow the pathway that just opened towards the south end of The Crater.
- Step 4 – Stop once you find the entrance to a cave with two dragons heads.
- Step 5 – Head through the cave to trigger “Return of the River” and eliminate all enemies.
- Step 6 – When encountering a dam eliminate all enemies again.
- Step 7 – Use your Drapunir Spear to create a pathway onto the other side of the dam.
- Step 8 – Use your Sigil Arrows and your Blade of Chaos to get rid of brush on the walls.
- Step 9 – When all enemies are defeated turn the wheel and restore water to The Crater.
- Step 10 – Take the boat from the dock near the entrance of The Jungle and sail it around the island where the Ogres are.
- Step 11 – When reaching the island defeat the Nokkens and Ogres.
- Step 12 – Upon defeating the Ogres you will be allowed to open a gate that takes you into a cave. Heading through this cave will lead you to the Wishing Well!
Now you can throw Crystalline Shards and Crystalline Fragments into the Wishing Well and receive rare equipment as well as valuable materials. There are also other entrances to this exclusive location that you will find by exploring the region.
You can find several orange crystals scattered throughout this location. By destroying them you can gather Crystalline Shards and Crystalline Fragments which will give you rewards when thrown inside the pond. There are several possible rewards like:

The way it works is basically by a points system. Depending on how many shards or fragments you throw your rewards vary in quality. It also seems like Fragments seem to be worth more than Shards.
