As you know Sea of Thieves is full of legendary adventures, with Return of the Damned being one of them! It’s the 9th time limited adventure in which players must choose between supporting the Servant of the Flame or siding with Belle. This how to Complete Return of the Damned – Sea of Thieves guide will help you through the whole adventure!
Siding with Belle means you bring back the return of Pendragon preventing Flameheart’s resurrection. Whilst supporting the Reapers saves Flameheart and dooms Pendragron to be forsaken in the Sea of the Damned. To start the adventure, go to any Outpost Tavern and speak to Larrina. Then you will be asked what path you want to pursue this being either Belle’s Path or Reapers’ Path. Regardless of what you choose you will need to capture Sea Forts and collect the Bewitching Dolls so get ready to compete with other Pirates!
How does the Adventure work?
The Return of the Damned is the second adventure in which players can directly affect the story’s outcome. Like we mentioned before there’s two paths, you can complete both. During the adventure your actions will either count towards Flameheart’s survival or demise. You can continue these actions after completing each path until the adventure ends. Then, at the end of the adventure, your efforts will be matched up and the fate of Flameheart and Pendragon will be revealed.
How to save Pendragon?
To save Pendragon you must side with Belle and strengthen her ritual with energy. You can do this by delivering Bewitching Dolls and Enchanted Bewitching Dolls from Sea Forts to Belle. The more you contribute the more points will be added to her side. Keep in mind the Enchanted Bewitching dolls contain more energy than the regular ones. You can also increase her points by capturing Sea Forts in her name.
How to save Flameheart?
To resurrect Flameheart and lose Pendragon you must side with the Reapers. The concept is the same as Belle’s but instead of delivering the Dolls to her you deliver them to the Servant of the Flame booting his ritual with energy.
So how do you complete the Adventure?
To fully complete Return of the Damned you must complete both paths. In this guide we will start with Belle’s Path but if you wish to start with The Reaper’s path you can jump from step 1 to step 6 and jump back to step 2 when you finish The Reaper’s path. Below you can see all the steps you need to complete and how to complete them
- Step 1: Start the Adventure – To do this find any active outpost and speak to Larinna she should be just outside the Tavern. You will see several different dialogue options pick the one asking about Belle and The Reaper then you must choose what path you want to partake in.
- Step 2: Belle’s Path – Sail to Shipwreck Bay and meet up with Belle. You can locate the island on your map table at the coordinates M10.
- Step 3: Speak with Belle on Shipwreck Bay – Read Belle’s journal it’s on the balcony behind the Captain’s Cabin on the shipwreck. Then go speak to Belle she’s just North of the large shipwreck on the island’s southern beach. When speaking to Belle pick ‘Continue Belle’s Path’ option.
- Step 4: Complete Belle’s Checklist – Access you quest radial and equip Belle’s checklist. You have two tasks to complete. ‘Conquer a Sea Fort and raise our flag there’ and ‘Return with me with a Bewitching Doll or Enchanted Bewitching Doll’. Below you can find a section solely dedicated on how to complete the tasks.
- Step 5: Speak with Belle – Deliver your Bewitching Doll and Belle’s Path is completed. If you wish to fortify Pendragon’s survival speak with Belle again, receive Belle’s Fort Flag, conquer more forts, and deliver more Bewitching Dolls.
- Step 6: The Reaper’s Path – Sail to The Reaper’s Hideout. When you get there read the Servant’s journal you can find it in a wooden crate below the wooden scaffolding. Then speak with the Servant of the Flame you can find him just outside of the main structure on the island. Choose the option ‘Continue Reaper’s Path’. If you started the path by speaking with Larinna choose the option ‘Complete Chapter’ and speak with him again.
- Step 7: Complete the Reaper’s Checklist – Access you quest radial and equip Reaper’s checklist. You have two tasks to complete. ‘Raise our Reaper’s Flag high atop a Sea Fort’ and ‘Bring us a Bewitching Doll or Enchanted Bewitching Doll’. Below you can find a section solely dedicated on how to complete the tasks.
- Step 8: Speak with the Servant of the Flame – Deliver your Bewitching Doll and Reaper’s path is completed. If you wish to fortify Flameheart’s resurrection speak with the Servant again, receive Reaper’s Fort Flag, conquer more forts, and deliver more Bewitching Dolls.
