Dead Space Remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity, suspenseful atmospheric audio, and improvements to gameplay and so far it’s fair to say that it’s a decent adaptation of the 2008 original Dead Space. One of the new things that the remake brought to the table was a new gruesome secret ending. This how to unlock the secret ending in Dead Space Remake will tell you how to do just that!
How to Unlock the Secret Ending
To unlock the secret ending you will need to finish the normal campaign first. Once you do so a New Game Plus will unlock. Keep in mind that you can finish the game in any difficulty and your weapons, upgrades, credits, and others will transition with you into the new game mode.
There are 12 of these fragments scattered throughout the Ishimura that you will need to collect. These fragments can be found on each chapter since there’s 12 fragments and 12 chapter, however chapter 5 has two fragments to gather and chapter 12 has none. So, once you collect them all just finish the last chapter as normal.
Once all fragments are collected you will need to drop them off at the Captain’s Quarters. This location can be found on the third floor of the Crew Quarters. When you get there you will see a shrine in which you can place all 12 fragments. You will know you did it right if you hear some disturbing whispers. Now finish the game and the secret ending will be unlocked.
Where can you find the Fragments?
If you’re having trouble finding all 12 fragments or are afraid of missing one read the table below on where to find them.
Marker Fragment 1: The first marker fragment is in the Maintenance Bay office on the second shelf of a bookshelf.
Marker Fragment 2: The second marker fragment is found in Dr. T. Kyne’s office on a desk in the side room.
Marker Fragment 3: The third marker fragment is found in the Mercer’s office on the desk at the other end of the room.
Marker Fragment 4: The fourth marker fragment is found at the Cryogenics. Stand outside room with multiple doors, look up and aim towards the roof and you should be able to see it.
Marker Fragment 5: The fifth marker fragment can be found in the East Grow Chamber. Go to the middle section of the ramp upon entering the area, and then turn to your right. Look above and you will see a glowing object on one of the platforms.
Marker Fragment 6: The sixth marker fragment is found in the Engine Room in the top right area in the far-left corner.
Marker Fragment 7: The seventh marker fragment is in the Mineral Processing Area in a small room on one of the shelves.
Marker Fragment 8: The eighth marker fragment is found at the Communications Array in the hexagonal area.
Marker Fragment 9: The ninth marker fragment is in the Break Room at a ventilation shaft underneath the display.
Marker Fragment 10: The tenth marker fragment is found in the Cargo Bay on the rack in the bottom right section of the map.
Marker Fragment 11: The eleventh marker fragment is in the Chief Stewardess’ office on a table next to a bottle.
Marker Fragment 12: The twelfth and last marker fragment is located at the Deluxe Shift Bunks on the table at the far end.
